Head-bands for the Year 2010

Head-bands have been making waves since the Middle Ages but have garnered an even bigger cult following with the popularity of the hit TV series, Gossip Girl.  Now you see headbands in different styles from hippie headbands to the dressier, feather headbands.  To date, they have become as ubiquitous as tights and skinny jeans.
One of the hottest trends in designer headbands these days is the feathered headband.  It adds a little vintage glam to an otherwise ho-hum outfit.  These fancy hairpieces have been spotted on some of the hottest celebrities in Tinsel Town.  To name a few, there’s Jessica Alba and Drew Barrymore.
But like any other trend, there is always a perfect time, place and way to wear them.  It would be advisable to get an opinion from your fellow fashionistas before considering on investing one.
Here are some tips on how to look chic and classy with one of the hottest trends in 2010.
Feathered headbands can spice up your classic little black dress in just a few minutes.  It’s perfect for a night out with girls or during an office party or a benefit ball.
For a boho chic touch, wear them with a lacy, cream or white colored frock, maxi dress or top.  The trick there is to wear a top or a dress with light and fluid fabrics in light, earthy shades.
You can also purchase a skinny, hippie style, feather headband which is a lot more versatile than their broad and more elaborate counterpart.
If you’re opting to look a little more elegant, pair a peacock feather headband with a solid colored cocktail dress or frocks in jewel tones.
Pairing it with something a little more casual can be a bit tricky.  A plain white or solid colored tank top will do the trick.  Avoid wearing tops with too much details.  Pair it with bangles or accessories in black or in earth tones.
To soften your look, wear it an inch away from your hair line and let your bangs frame your face.  You can even wear it over a messy half pony tail.  Add some waves to your mane too.
Feathered headbands can be a little too dressy to wear to work or on the way to the supermarket.  .
Take it easy on the accessories.  Never wear them with accessories with loud colors or striking details.  Feathered headbands are elaborate enough to make a statement.
For an added umph, wear them with a messy up-do.  If you have layered hair, allow some locks to fall off and frame your face and wear them an inch and a half away from the hairline or near your up do for an effortlessly chic look.
Avoid looking like a drag queen by choosing feather headbands in pink or any pastel colors.  Choose feather headbands in jewel or earth tones for a little more classic touch.  You must also consider your hair color in choosing a feathered headband.  Blondes and brunettes are lucky to have a wider array of choices in feather headbands than red heads.
